Cindy M. Bender began painting about 15 years ago. Watercolor is her first love but she has also been painting with oils for about 3 years. She enjoys painting a variety of subjects from landscapes to people and animals. Her style is usually realistic and she loves color and shadows.

"While the distractions of modern life are powerful and numerous, our world is still an enchanted place, and we live enchanted lives. There is beauty everywhere I look and I realize that I have been called to celebrate that beauty. If I am drawn to something, I will most likely paint it. I like the challenge of painting new subject matter, so I don’t limit what kinds of subjects I paint. I stay fresh by painting trees, sunsets, snow, animals, rusty cars, old boats, buildings, food, Adirondack chairs, birds, clothesline’s, and more. Clients are drawn to my use of bright colors, light and shadow and realistic style."

Cindy’s paintings have been in many West Michigan juried shows. Her work can be seen at Zeeland Art Gallery on Main Street downtown Zeeland, at Studio Two in Montague, MI, and at The Red Chair Gallery at her home in Zeeland.
